Every business wants to rank high on Google. A high website ranking means high visibility. High visibility means clicks, conversions, and sales. The vast majority of clicks only come from sites that are on the first page.
So, how do you do this?
There is no sure way to get number 1 every time. But there are things you can do to improve your ranking in an easy way. Let’s define the “easy way”: how all types of resources are minimally used, including financial time.
We are going to go over seven of those things in this article. Some are easier to implement than others, but we hope that at least one of them will help you in your search for visibility on Google.
SEO best practices
The point is that some large companies have total control over the main distribution channels. We already know that we are at the mercy of their algorithms, and those algorithms are constantly evolving. The changes completely displace the standard SEO function.
It’s no longer enough to create engaging content and add relevant keywords. Now you must assert yourself as a true expert on a specific topic to get noticed and ranked on Google.
To declare yourself an expert, you must create articles on a topic consistently and accurately. The practice of writing anything with many keywords present no longer works. The content must be relevant and the thematic groups are essential.
1. Know how long it takes
SEO is not fast, especially if you are new to it. Most pages that rank high for quality catchphrases have been around for in any event a year.
The average life of the top-ranked pages is about three years. Even for long-tail keywords, the usual time frame is 2-6 months for a new page to start ranking on Google. Patience and a solid foundation are the keys.
2. Sign up for Google My Business
If your business has a physical location where customers can visit it, sign up for Google My Business. This is how businesses are listed in things like Google Maps and in location searches.
This is also how they get these nice cards with all the company information at the top of the Google page. Unfortunately, this only applies to companies with a physical presence. If you haven’t signed up, you’re missing out on a great SEO opportunity.
3. Get your backlinks easily
Backlinks are the backbone of Google searches, but not all sites grab the simplest of backlinks. All social media sites and business profiles that your business has must have a link to your website.
These are free, easy, and powerful backlinks that help Google increase your brand presence online. You can find these opportunities simply by using Google by searching for your business name. Check if these pages contain links to your site, if not, ask to be added.
4. Stop targeting impossible keywords
Google keywords are associated with statistics. One of them is competition. Keywords with strong competition make Google big money thanks to AdSense, but from an SEO perspective, it is very difficult to rank among them.
These are informational sites. You need more nuanced words and expressions for your site duplicate. How? ‘Or what?
Browsers looking for a solution to something through Google have one of two ways of thinking. The first mindset is that they know exactly what they’re looking for and run a specific search query (for example, “Minneapolis emergency oven repair”) to find it.
The keywords and phrases for these two queries are the ones to look for, as the seeker is looking for a solution and is willing to pay for it.
5. Learn your basics well
From a search engine perspective, good SEO lets search engines know exactly what your site is and how it can rank in their database. Many sites, especially older ones, make this job harder for them than it should be.
Moz.com offers free tools that you can use to find easy SEO solutions for your site. Some may be a bit technical, but the search engines will thank you.
The basics go beyond the technical aspect of SEO. The user interface of the site can have a profound effect on SEO. If your site is difficult to navigate, people will leave quickly.

This correlation is well established, either direct or indirect. Avoid this by making your site easier to navigate. Don’t make your visitors work to get the information they want to read.
6. Update when you can
If Google revisits your site and finds that not much has changed, you won’t waste time digging deeper into your site. By updating your site from time to time with new information, Google takes notice.
Now just because you update your site regularly doesn’t mean you will get higher rankings for the keywords you want. This tells Google to check your site more often and gives them more data to work with.
It doesn’t even have to be a big change. Below we will share a strategy on how you can make incremental changes per page to boost SEO, which will also be considered updates. plumber hoping to hit number one in “plumbing” in a non-local national search, you’ve chosen the wrong target.
7. Optimize your analysis
Without good analysis, you have no way of determining the quality of your SEO. Simply researching your keywords is a bad way to do it. Google Analytics is the most useful tool in your arsenal.
Find out what the different metrics mean and how to read them over time. Ideally, integrate at least three months of data into Google Analytics before you start making assumptions about trends and traffic.
If you already use Google Analytics or have multiple analytics goals like Facebook, Twitter, AdSense, etc. for the same site, there are tools that can import all the information at once.
Make incremental improvements
If you have all these basics in place and you have several months of good data, you can start making incremental improvements.
To do this, look for a page that has quality keywords that you already rank for, but haven’t made it to the first page of results yet. By slightly modifying the page to optimize for that keyword, you can get the page past that first crucial barrier.
By applying these tips, you should start to see your ranks increase relative to your competition.
